The Voices and Cries of a Stricken People.

The Voices and Cries of A Stricken People. Over the past 6 months, the cost of living in Zimbabwe has risen to unimaginable heights. Disparities between the Ruling Elite and Multitudes are more than just visible to the naked eye. As a former History student, the economic situation in Zimbabwe just reminded me of 18th Century France. The multitudes were crying for *Bread* whilst the *Ruling Elite* were living lavishly. Wining and dining, throwing parties were they ate *Cakes*.Someone may wonder why i highlighted the following words; i Ruling Elite ii Bread iii Cake These above words form the basis of the situation in Zimbabwe. Lets start with the Ruling Elite. In comparison to 18th Century France, Zimbabwe has the Elite individuals who play a leading role in the Economics of the Nation. They are stakeholders in major companies and some of  them too have a political background. In a nation where millions earn way below the Poverty Datum Line, there are a lot of millionaires wit...

Zimbabwe

They talk of sustainable living as if its achievable in a fortnight. This is the sad truth that we facing in Zimbabwe. All that the government does is huff and puff smoke and dust, yet they don't have any solid plans in place.Every sector that should be contributing to the development of the nation is crumbling bit by bit. Years back, Zimbabwe used to be the bread basket of Southern Africa.Commercials farms were operating at 100% capacity.Yes they may say all the farms were in the ownership of the minority and the blacks wanted their birth-right.From my point of view, i can gadly say that was the deadliest mistake that our government ever made. That was the biggest shortfall ever made.It was supposed to be wake Up call that we needed as Zimbabweans but hey, we turned a blind eye to everything and focused on our land grabbing agenda. Blacks went on a rampage throughout the nation torching farms and farm houses.Destroying multi-million dollar equipment. As blacks we envisaged a free n...

She wakes up every morning at 4am, trying to make ends meet. Her mind is only focused on living a better life even in this poverty ravaged Country. These ladies are the 21st freedom fighters in this crippled nation. They fight tooth and nail for their families survival. This is the story of every woman in Zimbabwe who has the dreams of a better future. She toils hard, her sun-baked skin bares the scars of her unending wars against the economy. She takes in blow by blow every day and every hour.Season after season she keeps on fighting.Come Winter,Summer or Spring, you will find her by the corner selling her wares. With child in hand, she keeps on smiling as the hours pass by.One thought in her head that keeps her going is the future of her offspring. I call them Rebel Women. This is because they are waging a war that doesn't want to end any time soon. But inspite of all this, they don't lose any hope of a better tomorrow.Salute to all the women out there fighting for their families. ...

Dreams turned Dark

As the Sun rises on the Land, it casts a shadow on the Hopes of the masses.Dreams  and goals shattered by the Broken System. That is the Story of the Day in Zimbabwe.Youths face an unending War, one war so great that it has left many casualties and fatalities in its wake. This is a story set in morden-day Zimbabwe. Growing up, every Jack and Jill had a dream of making it big in life. Some wanted to be doctors, others nurses and others pilots.Everyone dreamt big in their own space, but in truth most of those dreams were shattered by a broken system. In the early 2000's, Zimbabwe's economy went on a nose-dive.One dive that was even quicker than that of a Concorde. This downturn in the economy led to a record high rate of poverty.During that period Zimbabwe was already engaged in a fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic. With poverty on the rise, our government found itself in a Two-fronted WarZone. Many turned to illicit acts to make a living. The young men became like-minded robber...
